The 14th CTSC awards night took place at a sold out Roundhill WMRC on Monday night, it was a another sell out for the third year running.
We reviewed the season, another fantastic one, a steady flow of injuries through out the season tested the entire squad. Finishing third and now a semi final against Wigan, a really creditable effort and we thank everyone for giving us the fans plenty of magic moments in 2018.
We sincerely hope we can go one better this year and lift the Grand Final trophy.
The Cas fans are right behind you.
Our first interview of the night was with Cas Tigers women player Kelsey Gentles, who reviewed a great first season. Reaching the Challenge cup final and qualifying for the semi final play off's, a season to be proud of.
Next up was Daryl Powell who reviewed the season, he was very proud of everyone at the club.
Our first award of the night was the U19s Player of the year, sponsored by Faye's sandwich bar, Daryl said a bit about the winner Lewis Peachey and Faye Noon presented the trophy.
It was stand in captain Luke Gale who was next to be interviewed, pleased to be back and looking forward to the semi final at Wigan.
The committee player of the year was next up, sponsored by the Black Swan, Normanton, the winner was Nathan Massey who had recently made his 200th appearance for the club, a worthy winner.
Another player who had a stand out season received the next award, sponsored by Carpet Magic Kippax, the Special Achievement award, presented by Steve Smith. The winner Jake Truman who had gained a place in the team, initially at full back then to his favourite position stand off. A outstanding season for such a young player, the future is a bright one.
Lastly a record vote with a record winning margin for the Castleford Tigers Supporters Club Player of the Year, sponsored by Churchfield Foods and presented by Michelle Bowman. The overwhelming winner was Paul Mcshane.
What can you say, a super all rounder, position kicker, place kicker, defensively dominant, try scorer and on field organiser, the best hooker in Super League.
A truly outstanding season for a very special player.
We ended the night thanking the players who were leaving us at the end of the season, Jy Hitchcox, Brandon Douglas and Jake Webster, who said a few words on the stage, we wish them all well for the future.
